44. Walk about…

Teaching finished.

I decided to go out for “a drink” with some colleagues.

Although I don’t drink, there’s no rule.

I don’t have a problem with drinking.

If I want to drink, I drink. No problem.

But I hadn’t drank for a long time.

10 or 15 years, since I became Christian, I hadn’t been drinking.

My colleagues, they wanted to go to a girly bar, so I let them go.

I didn’t wanna go.

I’d never been in one, but I didn’t wanna go.

I walked up, what I now know, as street 51.

It was 9ish.

Dark already.

Cambodia, it gets dark at 6.

I saw a pub called Walkabout.

Now, in London, Walkabout is a backpackers pub, full of Australians, usually showing sport like rugby or something.

I looked inside but didn’t go inside.

What I saw was, lots of girls, and blokes standing drinking beer.

The girls were women.

Older.

Dressed to kill.

Heavily made-up.

Thick eye-liner.

Mascara.

Red lips.

Black attire.

I walked past.

I didn’t go inside.

I was scared, if I’m honest.

I walked past.

Went to sit on the this big square outdoor bar area called Golden Sorya Mall.

Opposite was this club called Heart Of Darkness…
