52. Mission Possible.

I trawl the ICF email noticeboard for NGO’s that can help young women who want to escape the sex trade.
There is Hagar, Open Arms and Daughters of Cambodia.
I call each one and arrange to visit, to see the facilities before I take my friend.
I call Srey Roath.

So, Hagar, they do a life skills course, Open Arms do make up and hair and Daughters do beauty and catering…
Life skills, what’s that?
I’m not sure. Why don’t I take you to meet them and you can have a chat?

So it’s arranged.
I take Srey Roath to Hagar and she books onto a 3 month course.
I agree to pay her a salary of $120 per month.
Srey Roath completes the course and goes on to get an admin job with Love 146 – a Christian anti trafficking NGO – headed up by my new friend Glenn Miles.
Things were going well.
My first success.
And as I lay here in the room, 10 years later, about to hit the crystal meth pipe maybe for the last time with the girl who had seized my heart – Razor – I wonder where and how it had all gone wrong…
