59. Survivor

I love my job.
Teaching at ACE.
My first professional Observation report is treasure:
A friendly, approachable teacher with a lively, dynamic classroom style.
Students are amazing.
Self – motivated. Friendly. Fun.
An absolute joy to teach.
I love my job!
When I resign 7 years later over a disagreement with a manager over my use of a word I know I’m actually being forced out due to my crystal meth addiction.
The fact that I was in the middle of what my dear friend Steve Gourley described as a high conflict custody battle didn’t matter to my English manager.
The fact that the ex husband of the girl I had fallen in love with was making death threats to me, my girlfriend and his 2 year old daughter was neither here nor there.
The fact that my mother had died of cancer 1 year earlier was of no matter. According to my manager 1 year was ‘a long time to grieve.’
My personal life was affecting my work life and the manager used a management technique to force my resignation by making false threats.
Threats that would no way stand up in court.
But my first 5 years at ACE were a dream job.
Later, as I learn Hollywood is watching me, I wonder if forcing me onto the streets was just one big character test to see if I’m a survivor.
My life turns into one big reality TV show.
Survivor in a concrete jungle.
